Electrical Panel

The electrical panel is one of the most important systems in your home. It is through this panel that the rest of your home receives electricity from the utility company, and in return, distributes electricity to your home. It is important to have an electrical inspection when purchasing a home, and every 5-10 years subsequently to ensure everything is functioning properly and safely. How do you know if you need to repair or replace the panel? Below, we will address some common problems that occur with your panel, and if we recommend a repair or replacement.

  • Damaged Cables- Having damaged or faulty cables happens over time due to corrosion or wear and tear. Damaged cables require immediate repair, but full replacement of the electrical panel is not required.
  • The Panel Feels Warm- If you touch the back of your hand to the electric panel door and it feels warm, this is cause for concern and replacement. Typically, this indicates exposed or frayed wiring behind the scenes, which can cause an electrical fire. Call us right away if this happens, so we can keep you, your family and your home safe.
  • Tripping Circuit Breakers- Having to reset a breaker now and then isn’t usually an area of concern. But when it happens frequently, its time to take a look behind the panel. Regularly tripping breakers can indicate that your circuit is overloaded and cannot safety accommodate your daily demands. Our contractors will inspect your electrical panel, but will likely recommend it should be replaced with something updated and more suitable to meet your needs.

Are you still unsure if your electrical panel needs repair or replacing? For a small fee, we will come and inspect your electrical panel and give our honest and sincere opinion.
